ABOUT INDEE MOSS (b. 1981)

Indee Moss approaches the canvas with a unique duality: the disciplined mind of a scientist and the soul of a lifelong naturalist. Holding a PhD in Chemistry and a Master of Accounting, Indee spent years mastering the complexities of the physical world before dedicating her career to Contemporary Realism. This scientific foundation grants her a rare, analytical understanding of light and pigment behavior, while informing a disciplined, methodical approach to the architecture of every painting.

Indee’s love for art began at a young age, from the time she could hold a pencil and was nourished by the halls of natural history and art museums and a deep fascination with the animal kingdom. Trained in the rigorous atelier classical traditions of drawing and painting, Indee utilizes clean compositions and vast negative space to distill complex subjects into their essential beauty. Utilizing oils and pastels and a slow, methodical approach to painting, her work is a pursuit of 'Minimalist Realism'—inviting the viewer into a sense of quietude and profound observation.

Currently working from her studio in Ames, Iowa, Indee's work has been recognized with an Artists Network Award and exhibited at various institutions across the country.

INDEE’S RESUME

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

In a world of constant noise, my work is a call to stillness. Drawing on my background in the sciences, I utilize the disciplined methodology of a scientist to strip away the chaos of the world, leaving only the essential beauty of the subject.

My 'Minimalist Realism' is designed to offer the viewer a breath of clarity—a deliberate space where the eye can rest and the mind can settle. I meticulously craft each piece to capture the precise behavior of light and form, creating a work that feels alive with quiet energy. By distilling complex natural subjects into their essential beauty and utilizing a palette of soft, peaceful tones, I aim to provide a daily anchor of peace for the collector.

Through the use of vast negative space and clean, rhythmic compositions, my paintings bring a sense of modern sophistication and atmospheric light to your environment. To live with this work is to be reminded of the elegance found in the details; it is an invitation to a sense of steady, tranquil observation that is both analytical and deeply soulful.
